Named after the elk that roamed the northern Illinois plains, Elk Grove Village is a town located in Cook County with a population of approximately 33,000. Being less than 8 miles from O’Hare airport, Elk Grove Village is extremely accessible from several highways including I-90, I-290/I-355/Route 53, and the Elgin-O’Hare Expressway.
Home to over 3,600 business, Elk Grove business park holds the second largest concentration of employers in the state of Illinois. The largest employer in the community is Alexian Brothers Medical Center hospital.
But the town isn’t all work and no play. Elk Grove Village Park District manages 44 parks, 19 public tennis courts, and several other sports facilities. Residents can also visit the Jack A. Claes Pavilion that has a carousel, indoor playground, fitness center, and much more. Also, make sure not to miss the herd of elk at the entrance to the 11.2 mile pedestrian and bike path at Busse Woods Forest Preserve.
The town has 9 elementary schools and 5 junior highs as part of Districts 54 & 59. Elk Grove Village is split between Conant High School (District 211) and Elk Grove High School (District 214).
