Itasca is a smaller village in DuPage County located 27 miles outside of Chicago near O’Hare airport. The population is approximately 8,700.
It is conveniently located at the junction of I-290/I-355 Veterans Memorial/I-390 Elgin-O’Hare. It is also served by the Metra Milwaukee District/West Line train, making Itasca perfect for commuters.
The town is served by Itasca school District 10, featuring two primary schools Peacock Middle School, and Lake Park High School.
Itasca Park District manages nine parks and 43 acres of recreational spots. The Itasca Nature Center acts as a resource for conservation and education. It features 2 miles of hiking trails through woodlands, prairie, and marsh. The facility also serves a site for birdwatching, snowshoeing, and a picnic center, as well as aquariums and gardens.
The town has become a popular stay and play location, with the luxurious Eaglewood Resort & Spa being a popular weekend staycation destination. Golf courses, first class dining and shopping, as well as great schools, once earned Itasca the title of “Best Affordable Suburb in Illinois” by BusinessWeek.
