Lake in the Hills is a town in McHenry County with a current population of around 29,000. The town experienced exponential growth during the 1990s, with an increase of almost 17,000 people, making it one of the fastest growing suburbs in the country. Lake in the Hills is neighbored by popular suburbs Algonquin, Crystal Lake, and Huntley.
It is served primarily by school Districts 158 (newer areas) and District 300 (older areas). Neighborhoods are split to 5 elementary schools, 4 middle schools, and 3 separate high schools that are all part of the Fox Valley Conference athletics.
Parks and recreational areas are served by both Huntley and Lake in the Hills Park Districts, with the most popular being Sunset Park and the site of the annual Rockin’ Rotary Ribfest and Summer Sunset Festival.
With most residential areas near Algonquin Road and Randall Road, the town has endless options for shopping and dining, as well as first class medical care at new hospitals Advocate Sherman Hospital and Centegra Hospital Huntley.
